The components of Educational Technology Support

ISS provides many avenues of support for faculty, staff and students at UTEP to uphold our mission of serving as a model of excellence in providing integrated support for pedagogically and technologically effective university teaching.

Academic Classroom Technology Support

ISS educational technology staff located in the UGLC provide UTEP faculty with continual assistance and maintenance of the advanced technologies available in the facility. ISS provides a customized series of workshops and trainings developed to increase basic skills and understanding of the technological components housed within the UGLC.

International Professional Certification Institute (iPCI)

The International Professional Certification Institute (iPCI) offers technical certification courses for UTEP students, faculty, staff, and community members to prepare them for opportunities in the modern world. Dear students and faculty,

In our efforts to improve the learning experience with Blackboard, Enterprise Computing and ISS are working to keep up with the latest updates . Some updates can be done with minimal or no disruption to the system. Others require some down time in order for the updates to take effect (similar to rebooting your computer when the operating system has been updated). We are in the process of performing a much needed update to Blackboard that will require a few hours to implement. This update will address the following important issues:

  • Discussion forums to do not respect adaptive release rules (LRNSI-9956)
  • Clicking on a disabled student user's journal results in "Not Found" error (LRNSI-10499)
  • Attempting to access a course journal with entries from a disabled student user results in "Renderer template processing failed" (LRNSI-10126)
  • Adaptive Release does not work for Assignments in Learning Modules (LRNSI-8415)
  • Processing secondary institution roles in Snapshot results in errors (LRNSI-10353)
  • Merged courses do not retain correct Duration setting after being updated via SIS (LRNSI-10224)
  • Subject field for Send Email contains Course ID instead of Course Name (LRNSI-10045)
  • HTML tags not working in the Item Name field for a Learning Module (LRNSI-10020)
  • Upload Applet Security Warning with Java 7 client installed, when attempted to upload multiple files (LRNSI-9687)
  • System Admin Announcements show Course Announcements for enrolled administrators (LRNSI-9684)
  • Outcomes Evidence Assessment causes broken link when a Blackboard URL is included (LRNSI-9517)
  • What's New module displays error getting Notifications for non-student users (LRNSI-9376)
  • The Reset Lost Password page does not provide any message text with the French language pack (LRNSI-9298)
  • Symbols for My Blackboard Posts are not rendered properly on the left-hand side of the feature (internal)
  • The LOR folder is displayed in Content Collection area when user upgrades to 9.1 SP10 or above (LRNSI-10881)
  • An error message is displayed when searching a Slideshare in the Content area (LRNSI-10640)
  • Bulleted list spacing is not correct after performing an edit in VTBE content editor. (LRNSI-10367)
  • Setting students to Unavailable in child courses erases the Last Access Date (LRNSI-8182)
  • Self and Peer Assessments' Average Percentage includes ungraded evaluations (LRNSI-9547)
  • Performance Dashboard's Discussion Board's Total Points link returns empty results (LRNSI-10129)
  • Courses that had Discussion Forums deleted under prior service packs result in error when Course Copy attempted. (LRNSI-9399)
  • Copying en_US language pack escapes some HTML tags (LRNSI-10114)
  • Content copied from one folder to another results with content outside the original folder (LRNSI-639)
